Oil on canvas. Aleš Krejča is the leading contemporary exponent of Czech and European Magical Realism. Remarkable for its technical mastery, his work is absolutely unique in the context of current fine art. Fundamental influences on Krejča's artistic direction came not only from the esteemed Professor František Muzika (studied at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague in 1959-1965), but also Jan M. Tomeš's often poetic insight into art history. Krejča's personal meeting with Mikuláš Medek resulted in Medek long being Krejča's role model. He also worked as a book designer for the publishing houses Artia, Aventinum, Albatros, Odeon, Mladá fronta, Československý (Český) spisovatel, Paseka, Sefer, and Torst. He has received several awards and honorable mentions in book design competitions. He is involved in the international painters' group Libellule, Czech art association Lugh, and the Pšovka Club for the Embellishment of Kokořínsko.
