František Bílek (1872 - 1941) ADAM AND EVE

At first glance, the vase with František Bílek's unmistakable signature is clearly a timeless, mystical work. František Bílek carved and shaped his works as if he had torn them from his own soul. Although he is primarily associated with Christian themes, his work is more a reflection of humanity and internal experiences. At the heart of this idea was an effort to return a simple clay vessel to the realm of art, to give it religious and philosophical meaning, to restore its cultural essence, which modern times had taken away from objects by beginning to mass-produce them.
