Jakub Obrovský frequently painted nudes and garden rendezvous, placing beautiful girls in sunny and relaxed landscapes. Several typical features are evident in this work – romantic lyricism, spontaneous and dynamic colors, and a lively, powerful style. Jakub Obrovský was born into a family of farmers and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Max Pirner. In 1909, he joined the Association of Moravian Artists. In 1919, he became a professor of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague.
