Josef Navrátil (1798 - 1865) COTTAGE UNDER THE MOUNTAINS

From the assessment by PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová: "The oil painting presented here is undoubtedly a beautiful work by the painter Josef Navrátil, most likely from after 1850. At that time, Navrátil's work was dominated by oil paintings of landscapes, in keeping with the modern romanticism of the period. Navrátil exclusively sketched and painted the final works in his studio. He combined elements of real landscapes into an artificial, idealized, yet lively, impressive, and convincing natural backdrop. The scene shows a high degree of observation and immense sensitivity to natural phenomena and the play of light in the atmosphere."
