At the turn of the century, Miloš Jiránek's work focused mainly on people, whom he depicted in their natural forms and familiar surroundings. Miloš Jiránek was a member of the Mánes Union of Fine Arts and an activist in cultural life – he helped organize exhibitions by August Rodin and Edward Munch. Both exhibitions had a significant influence on the emerging generation of young artists. In the presented work on paper, he captured Bohumil Kafka working on the relief Angel of Death over a Dead Swan. The sculptures can be seen, for example, at the Vyšehrad Cemetery on the grave of Kafka's wife Berta and the Jirásek family.
