After 1918, the town of Německý Brod publicly declared its allegiance to K. Havlíček, who could not be omitted from the Pantheon of National Martyrs. At that time, the first attempts to rename Německý Brod to Havlíčkův also appeared. The idea of honoring Havlíček with a monument came to life after the revolution in 1918, when the town hall, at the request of citizens, wanted to replace the Baroque Marian column with a monument to Havlíček. The design by Prof. Bohumil Kafka, a student of S. Sucharda and J. V. Myslbek, author of many sculptures of famous personalities, was chosen. The base of Havlíček's bronze monument was made from Austrian army cannons. The monument, which measures four and a half meters, took two years to complete and was unveiled in 1924. The bronze casting on offer was made using an old technique with visible pins. The work comes from the author's estate.
