The first group of young artists to enter the artistic consciousness after February 1948 was Máj 57. The group was described as artistically diverse without a unified program, but its work sought to address the artistic issues of the 20th century. It was precisely this programmatic freedom that was a prerequisite for its very creation. The group stood for cultural and social change, and the official apparatus had serious reservations about its approach. Ladislav Dydek was an important member of the group and also supported artists who were not members of the union. The two works presented here come from the same collection as the other two works by Ladislav Dydek on offer.
