"RIVIERA" CHAIR
1981
lacquered wood and metal
78 cm (h)

| 500 €
The "Riviera" chair by Michele De Lucchi is a design for the Memphis group that most closely resembles the avant-garde furniture prototypes he created in 1979 for Girmi. It represents an attempt to emphasize a playful and not merely functional relationship with useful everyday objects. "Riviera" is a chair that surprises us with its playful form: its base consists of two blue crossed arches, while the seat folds like a book. De Lucchi's projects are created in collaboration with many Italian and European furniture brands. In 1990, he founded Produzione Privata with the aim of combining an experimental approach with traditional craft techniques and processes. The chair comes from the important collection of renowned artist and collector Ivan Steiger, who purchased it in the 1980s.
