SALOME WITH THE HEAD OF JOCHAN II
1941
indian ink, gold paper

| 2 500 €
František Tichý resisted artistic descriptiveness; he was bold and spirited, loving themes of performers, circuses, and artists. However, he also brought a certain delicacy and sensitivity to his art. The drawing of Salome dancing does not lack perspective and a touch of Tichý's rougher humor, but also a virtuoso metamorphosis of the human body, which blends with the amplitudes of dance creations. The confidence he gained as a draftsman, similar to how "an artist masters a certain skill through a thousand repetitions," allowed Tichý to transform the figure into a symbol, a dangerous chimera that ironizes human depravity.
