Malich's approaches became fundamental points in the development of contemporary Czech art. He created his own symbolic language, which is the result of philosophical and spiritual research, introspection, and memories. For example, of the undulating landscape around Holice, where he grew up. The landscape imprinted in his childhood memory became his inner world, and the rounded lines, canonical for his work, formed a system of characteristic features with which he described not the landscape he saw, but the landscape that took place within him. Energy, flow, and the sky were reflected in his work after a plane flight, when the plane was tossed about in the wind in the middle of a storm. The world that Karel Malich created was a world within a world—it began as a seen landscape and continued as a representation of the multiplicity of reality.
