Jaroslav Panuška (1872 - 1958) AUTUMN LANDSCAPE

Jaroslav Panuška went through an interesting artistic genesis, when he was able to encompass symbolistically decadent motifs full of dark nightmares and equally well projected landscape motifs from the Czech countryside onto the canvas. Autumn landscape composed of the wispy strokes of the sky and swirling patches of colour in the adjacent vegetation reveals the more modern impressionist tendencies he was inclined towards in landscape painting. The hilly landscape in the evening light is one of the finest examples of his landscape skills.
