After studying at the Secondary Vocational Glass School in Železný Brod, the author continued his studies with Prof. Libenský at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, where he graduated in 1972. Together with his peers Oldřich Plíva, Yan Zoritchak, Pavel Trnka and Marian Karel, he was a representative of the new cut, so-called prismatic sculpture.  At the end of the 1980s, Vašíček turned to the technique of fused sculpture, which brought him a major Grand Prix award in Kanazawa, Japan, in 1991. His objects are based on simple geometric shapes, characterized by the circle or square. His work can be divided into three main thematic phases. The first is the period of "Circles" or "Rings" and their variations, in which the artist presents a subjective vision of space and emptiness. "Aphroditia" consists of simple circular shapes with a central gap that expresses the tension between the material and the surrounding world. The next period is devoted to hemispheres, "Hemispheres", however, the longest stage of his work is the theme of "Moons", which includes works of large dimensions. Symptomatically, the moon - as the closest neighbour of our planet - becomes the driving force of natural phenomena, and the sculpture reflects this relationship in a very original way with its concave shape. The offered sculpture entitled "Crystal Moon" from 2019 is one of the artist's latest realizations. It is made of light blue glass fused into a mould and is polished in the final surface.
