LOETZ VASE
1920s-30s
Glass
26 cm (h)
| 327 €
The large vase made of iris blue glass in Art Deco style was produced by the South Bohemian glassworks Johann Loetz Witwe, which was one of the most important Art Nouveau glassworks in Bohemia. The company became famous for the production of irisated glass, i.e. glass irisated with hot metal vapours. This treatment causes a phenomenon called iridescence on the surface of the products, which is noticeable as a distinctive iridescent metallic colouring whose shades and colours change according to the angle of view and lighting. Many of the decors and their names have been patented by Loetz. It collaborated on them with numerous important designers such as Josef Hoffmann, Koloman Moser, Adolf Beckert, Otto Prutscher and Michael Powolny. Excellent condition.
