Hugo Baar was originally a Czech landscape painter who acquired the basics of painting at the School of Fine Arts in Vienna under the director H. Storck and in the studio of Rudolf Ribarz in Munich and under G. Hackel and H. Knier. He mainly devoted himself to landscape painting and depicted it in the spirit of art nouveau aesthetics.
