Jaroslav Šetelík (1881 - 1955) A VIEW OF PRAGUE

The masterful landscape artistry in this impressive vista of Prague’s Lesser Quarter and dominant St. Nicholas' church. Painting is offering bright color tones and absolutely vivid work with light. The pastel color range excellently captures the panorama under the cover of gentle clouds, impeccably shaping the perspective. The view itself is partially obstructed by semitransparent undulating poplars, the branches of which are executed with delicate strokes of the brush and blooming purple lilacs. It is probably originally viewed from Petřín gardens or the Vrtba garden.
