Josef Douba was a prolific contributor to Zlatá Praha magazine, recording the reality he saw with the precision of a painterly reporter and without any attempt at unnecessary effects. He often painted in the environment of Domažlice and later Chodsko. He broke away from the usual genre with the dynamics of his paintings, where he often recorded movement in the midst of relatively complex and detailed compositions full of props and onlookers. Whether it was children's games, dancing, singing or perhaps a record of a historical event - the starting point is an action snapshot.
