Very well preserved Biedermeier sewing box with complete equipment. Inlaid with mother-of-pearl, on the top of the lid a miniature of Vienna by Balthasar Wigand, who studied painting at the Vienna Art Academy. He specialized in small-scale paintings of vedute and historical events in the life of contemporary Vienna, especially during the Napoleonic Wars. His works were already highly appreciated by his contemporaries for their high factual and topographical accuracy, combined with the small formats of Wigand's watercolours and gouaches.
