A specific type of carpet that was once produced especially for the European market, which craved silk carpets, but these were not produced in sufficient quantities by Turkish manufacturers and, moreover, their price was too high for many end customers. This led to the creation of a segment of more affordable carpets, hand-knotted from so-called refined (mercerized) cotton (sometimes mixed with residual natural silk), and almost exclusively with a cotton warp. These carpets were always dyed with synthetic dyes and their design is a mixture of Anatolian and Persian patterns, which, among other things, represent stylized composites of various plants (including roses, carnations, peonies, hyacinths, etc.). The specimen on offer is complemented by animals in the form of hares, lions, and horses.
