Vladimír Pecháček studied at the Academy of Fine Arts under Maax Švabinský, Jakub Obrovský, and Willi Nowak. He devoted himself mainly to landscape painting, but also to sacred themes. The Portrait of a Woman with a Rabbit is unique in both its format and subject matter.
