Jaroslav Horejc (1886 - 1983) ALLEGORY WORK AND ENLIGHTENMENT

Both sculptures are preparatory studies or models for the decoration of the hall of the former Civic Savings Bank in Prague 8 - Karlín. The sculptures were originally located in the entrance hall of the new part of the building. The pseudo-Renaissance building had to be demolished in 1981 due to the construction of the Flonerc metro station. The plaster study Allegory of Work was exhibited at the Mánes members' exhibition in 1924. Defect: chip on the plinth of the sculpture Allegory of Work, minor abrasions on the patina. Only the sculpture Allegory of Enlightenment is signed. The dimensions given include the plinth.
