Josef Lada (1887 - 1957) CAROL SINGERS

The drawing of Josef Lada, a well-known illustrator, is an example of his unmistakable style. The scenes that intersect throughout his work are based on events in his native Hrusice. The Carolers are based on a typical concept that Lada used very often in landscape motifs with accompanying figural staffage in the given period. In the preparatory drawings, he combines watercolor painting and white ink with pencil drawing. His original concept, in which he fully applied his drawing experience, significantly enriched the expressive repertoire of contemporary Czech landscape painting.
