Vincenc Makovský (1900 - 1966) WOMAN WITH GUITAR

In the second half of the 1920s, Czech sculpture, especially among the generation of Jan Štursa's students inspired by current events on the Paris scene, underwent a fundamental transformation in sculptural opinion and a shift from traditional figural orientation to abstract plastic form. In the sculpture Woman with Guitar, the author used the Cubist analytical method to break down and abstract the classical figural form. The dimensions given include the pedestal. This is a later cast.
