František Tavík Šimon was a very prolific and versatile artist. In addition to interesting snapshots of urban landscapes, he devoted himself to pushing the boundaries of graphic techniques and their combinations, which he used to create realistic impressions. František Šimon Tavík was a student of Max Pirner and ranked among the most important graphic artists, painters, and wood engravers of his time. He later taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. He was a member of the Mánes Union of Fine Arts and a co-founder of the Hollar Association.
