Ethiopia, approx. second half of the 19th century. A solid cross made of probably silver-plated base metal (copper alloy), Ethiopian Coptic Orthodox Church. It is a type of processional cross with a hollow foot, which used to be placed on wooden poles and carried above the faithful during various processions. An authentic artifact, which was made by casting and then chiseling and openwork, the seemingly endless design of the typical latticework also has a deeper metaphorical level, as it symbolizes, among other things, eternity. Height approx. 54 cm.
