Ladislav Zívr (1909 - 1980) BRIDESMAIDS - SKETCH

The early 1940s marked a turning point for Zívr, as he clarified the direction he wanted to take in his sculptural work. In his diary, he wrote: "A solid synthetic form, greatly simplified, polychromed."  The sculpture Bridesmaids, originally made of polychromed fired clay, thus corresponds exactly to what the sculptor was aiming for at that time. This is a later cast.
