Emil Filla (1882 - 1953) CUBIST HEAD

The Cubist Head was designed between 1913 and 1914, originating from one of Filla's brief periods of interest in sculpture, none of which lasted longer than two to three years (1913–14, 1934–35, and 1936/37–38). This is a masterpiece of Czech Cubism, in which Filla explores the principles of Analytical Cubism and applies them to three-dimensional form. This is a later cast on a wooden base.
