The trial and execution of Marie Antoinette were key events of the French Revolution and symbolized the fall of the old regime par excellence. The trial itself was more of a political instrument than a court case based on hard evidence. As such, it became an inspiration for artists and historians who sought to capture the subject. Signed with Brožík's name, but the author is an unknown painter.
