August Bedřich Piepenhagen (1791 - 1868) ROCKY LANDSCAPE

From the assessment by PhDr. Naděžda Blažíčková-Horová: "The submitted painting bears all the hallmarks of the distinctive work of August Bedřich Piepenhagen. Views of mountain formations, rocks, boulders, and stones were a frequent motif in Piepenhagen's work, paraphrased many times. The presented impressive rocky landscape was most likely painted in the 1960s, when Piepenhagen also used the asphalt technique to depict similar motifs of rock formations, boulders, and stones, drawing inspiration from his summer residence in Jenerálka near Divoká Šárka."
