Jan Bočan graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague in 1962, returning in 1990 as head of the studio after being appointed professor. His most famous works include the Intercontinental Hotel in Prague and the Czechoslovak embassies in London, Stockholm, and Brazil. The set of six chairs made of bent slats with walnut veneer was designed by Jan Bočan for the furnishings of the truly iconic building of the Czechoslovak Embassy in Stockholm, which was designed by Jan Bočan, architects Zdeněk Rothbauer and Jan Šrámek, and many other leading Czech artists who collaborated on the detailed interior decoration (Libenský, Brychtová, Demartini, Cígler, Kolíbal). Currently, the building, which is listed as a Swedish cultural monument, is not used by Czech diplomacy, as it was purchased by a private owner in the late 1990s. Good condition. Fabric intended for professional cleaning.
