BAROQUE GLASS WITH A PORTRAIT

Cylindrical glass made of clear, colorless glass, with a ground rim and faceted cutting along the lower edge. In the central area of the front wall, a colorfully painted medallion with a portrait of a man in a classicizing style—likely a ruler—is embedded between two layers of glass. The medallion is framed by a gilded and red border, and surrounded by a cut decoration of elliptical facets. The reverse side of the medallion bears a handwritten inscription in old German cursive (partially illegible).
