CUP WITH SAUCER MEISSEN

Cup with a volute-shaped, gilded handle, decorated with a finely hand-painted miniature depicting two young girls’ heads resting on a cloud against a blue sky. The painting is exquisitely and delicately executed, typical of the Biedermeier era's emphasis on family and domestic sentiment. Both the cup and saucer are finished with gilded lines along their edges. Produced by the Meissen manufactory.

Damage: abrasions and partially worn gilding.
