Finely painted portrait of an elegant man in a dark tailcoat, with a white shirt and cravat, executed in oil on ivory. The precise rendering of the facial features, hair, and clothing corresponds to the early 19th century. The miniature is set in a gold-toned frame and housed in its original folding brown leather case, the interior lined with velvet and fitted with a loop for hanging. The leather case served to protect the piece during transport and reflects its representative function. Closed case dimensions: 19.6 × 15 cm.
