This cooling vessel made of English silver (Ag. 925/1000) weighing approximately 1600 g with modest decoration was made by the prestigious London manufacturer Carrington & Co. Among the famous names who ordered brooches, tableware, cufflinks, and other items from the company throughout its history were Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, Edward VII, George V, and the Russian tsars. Carrington & Co. was founded in 1873 by John Bodman Carrington. In 1880, it began manufacturing silver plates for restaurants, hotels, and ships, and after nearly 10 years, Carrington & Co. expanded into the gemstone and jewelry trade. Hallmarked.
