Jan Bauch (1898 - 1995) WASHING HERSELF

Although Bauch is known primarily as a painter, he also had a desire for three-dimensionality. Despite his solitary life, Bauch's thirties were based on friendships with sculptors and studying the uniqueness of their work. He maintained close relationships with Otto Gutfreund, Karel Pokorný, and other Czech sculptors. He became famous primarily as a sculptor inspired by female beauty, which he considered to be the foundation of all forms, the representative and source of erotic attraction, depicted in works such as Seated Girl (1930) and Offered Girl Washing Herself (1930).
