Starting price
This is a rare example from Ota Janeček's series of portrait heads, which were created in the early 1940s. Although he focused on realistic depictions of his subjects at this time, the paintings show very sensitive work in the application of paint, which gives the expressions a lyrical touch. As in Janeček's self-portrait from this period, a characteristic feature of the faces is their red noses. The work comes from the artist's estate in his Prague studio at Bubenská 1376/39. The work is registered in the inventory of works under number 10116, see the reverse of the painting.
