Norbert Grund (1717 - 1767) HERMIT WITH THREE ANGELS

Norbert Grund was a Czech painter of the late Baroque and Rococo periods. His work consists mainly of small cabinet paintings, most often genre paintings, but also landscapes and biblical themes. In this composition, three angels are talking to a hermit near an ancient temple, with a rare jug of wine standing nearby. The holy man listens to the angels in all modesty with his hands folded.
