Zdeněk Sklenář (1910 - 1986) GIUSEPPE ARCIMBOLDO

Zdeněk Sklenář is better known as an illustrator and graphic designer - due to his work on Old Greek Fables and Tales, Songs of Old China and many other books. He transformed the inspiration of Chinese art into something organic and his own, masterfully handling colour. He met Giuseppe Arcimboldo in Vienna in 1957 and 1958 and greatly popularised his work in this country. He influenced a whole generation of graphic artists he brought up.
