Jiří Trnka (1912 - 1969) YOUTH IN FOLK COSTUME

The original figure for the animated film with detailed execution in terms of painted face or clothing treatment. The puppet was probably created for the first feature-length puppet film Špalíček (1947), which won the Gold Medal at the Venice IFF. The film paraphrases life in the Czech countryside in the 19th century. With music by Václav Trojan, it sought to celebrate and poeticize village customs and customs, joys, work and worries during the seasons.
