Half-empty landscapes in which a minimum of objects are set are among the typical examples of Lhoták's work. The artist works with a broader minimalist surface and optical contrast with the object he has inserted into it. In the 1960s he begins to work more with the horizon - the foreground of the landscape. At the beginning of the 1960s, his conception of landscape undergoes a fundamental change. This new approach, represented by the concept of Green Ireland, where he juxtaposes two large, colour-contrasting areas, is subsequently described by Prof. František Dvořák and the professional public as a completely innovative conception of the seemingly already exhausted topic of landscape design.
