Karel Stroff studied under Prof. E.K. Liška and Prof. Ženíšek. He devoted himself to lyrical themes and caricatures. His work was significantly influenced by illustration, he excelled in depicting symbolist and fairy tale themes. The presented work Rusalka and the vodyanoy is one of the most exceptional in his known work to date - both in terms of the depth of its processing and its generous format.
