Vlastimil Košvanec specialized in portraits and cartoons. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague under professors Vlaho Bukovac and Vojtěch Hynais. He traveled to Italy, Austria, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Albania and the Adriatic. He was a member of Umělecká Beseda. He moved among many artistic styles - impressionism, symbolism, post-impressionism, realism.
