Adriena Šimotová is one of the most distinctive artists of the 1960s generation. She was a member of UB 12 and G7 art groups. As she herself admits, the professor who perhaps most influenced her was Josef Kaplický, under whom she studied at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague for eight years. One of the themes that Šimotová regularly focused on and developed was mankind in his physical form. She often worked on themes in series: What the Body Radiates; Eyes; Marked Head; Through Dialogue and a number of others. Handmade paper, worked by applying a variety of techniques, has been an essential part of the artist's specific expression since the 1980s. This work is from the cycle Eye I-III. Included in her list of works in the catalogue: Adriena Šimotová, National Gallery, Galerie Pecka, 2001, p. 291, no. 779. Were obtained from a private collection of Nella Rasmussen. Pigment, colored handmade paper, signed and dated on bottom center.
