The motif of bathing is a frequent theme in Benda's work, in which he explores female beauty through the medium of sculpture. Benda's period between 1919 and 1930 is associated with the absorption of influences from his two teachers: Josef Václav Myslbek and Jan Štursa. During his lifetime, the artist created an extensive body of work comprising more than a hundred life-size and larger-than-life sculptures. The sculpture on offer was one of the artist's favorites, as evidenced by the fact that it was not for sale during his lifetime. The work After the Bath comes from the artist's estate and is accompanied by a certificate of origin signed by the artist's heirs. It is the original first bronze cast. Exhibited: Belveder 1977, Prague, and many others.
