Josef Istler (1919 - 2000) COMPOSITION

The composition comes from a period when Istler's work was transforming into pure abstraction. The paintings are created through a combination of techniques - varnishes, textiles, paint splatters, and woodblock prints or by forming relief textures. The social climate, under the weight of communism, still did not accept modern trends tending towards abstraction. However, Isler's work, like that of Mikuláš Medek, managed to keep up with the tendencies of world artistic currents and formed an important developmental link in our territory.
