Characters in dark landscapes are frequent travellers in František Hudeček's imaginative landscapes. These lonely pedestrians of enclosure take on a gloomy atmosphere, the weight of war, and move in a world with a geometric layout that often leads nowhere. Hudeček was open to many approaches and his work can be traced to the intermingling of various artistic positions from surrealism, cubism, geometric abstraction to op art. It was in the 1930s that he became acquainted with the leading representatives of the avant-garde and subordinated his works to the surrealist order. This corresponds with his search for artistic paths rather than the final appearance - the goal.
