Mikuláš Medek (1926 - 1974) PORTRAIT OF VÍTĚZSLAV NEZVAL

The drawing is a juvenile work of Mikuláš Medek from the time when he studied at the Secondary Industrial School of Graphic Arts under Karel Müller, and also a remarkable document supplementing the knowledge of his rich work. In this case, Medek limited himself to a minimum of artistic means and thus succeeded in creating a concise, yet concise portrait of Vítězslav Nezval. Nezval's personality is well complemented here by the wittily chosen attributes of a café table and a glass of wine.
