From the opinion of PhDr. Pavla Pečinková: "In the 1940s Lada established himself as a painter of the Czech countryside, but he did not want to give up the typical contour line and was not attracted to oil painting. He therefore combines watercolour with gouache and often executes his typical contours with a thick soft pencil. The motif of the present work, its overall expression, the stylization of shapes, the handwriting, the method of coloring and the type of signature correspond to Lada's clearly documented originals from the period, preserved in the estate and public collections. This variant has not yet been recorded in the specialist literature, nor is there any information about its possible representation at exhibitions. However, it clearly fits into the body of Lada's work. The presented gouache represents one of the versions of Lada's winter paintings with the motif of building a snowman, which are very numerous in his oeuvre. These pictures coincide in their compositional layout, have similar backdrops and identical figural motifs, yet they do not lose their unique expression and painterly qualities, and each retains an individual poetic atmosphere." The work is accompanied by an expert opinion of PhDr. Pavla Pečinková and a corresponding testimonial from Josef Lada's grandson - Mgr. Josef Lada.
