Maxim Kopf (1892 - 1958) STILL LIFE WITH FISH

The range of subjects of Kopf's paintings was wide: portraits, nudes, landscapes, still lifes. The present Still Life with Fish dates from his early student days before he had to flee the Nazi occupation, which he condemned. Executed in short, punchy bursts of colour, Maxim Kopf's work is one of the typical examples of his work, which he would go on to embellish to touches of colour.
