Fantastic Dragon Guarding an Egg is one of Boudník's first major structural prints. An analogous sheet belonged to Bohumil Hrabal's collection. After Boudník's first official solo exhibition in 1958 in Brussels on the occasion of EXPO 58, Boudník felt motivated to continue his work and experimented. He drew on matrices with nitrolacquer mixed with sanding powder and then printed the compositions. It was 1959 that was pivotal for the formation of his structural prints.
