Emil Filla (1882 - 1953) CUBIST HEAD

Filla's sculptural period can be understood not only as a departure from his painting, but also as evidence of a deeper exploration and logical development of the same pictorial and spatial relationships in a different medium. His interest in sculpture in the 1930s can be seen as proof of the innovativeness of his work during this period. This is a later cast.
